The Mississippi government has decided to recognize the Khmelnytsky region of Ukraine (the west of Ukraine) as a sister region, this is the first such decision in US history.

“There is unique news for the residents of the Khmelnytsky region: the state of Mississippi has recognized our region as a sister region. This is the first time in the history of the United States of America that such a decision has been made. You all know there are sister cities, but for a whole state and a whole region to be twinned has never happened before. I am sincerely grateful to the governor of Mississippi for supporting our region and our Ukraine in such a difficult time.”
