The UN Security Council will consider the issue of incitement to violence as one of the reasons for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on June 21.

“Incitement to violence, which led to the commission of violent crimes” – this is the agenda item of the Security Council meeting to be held at UN headquarters in New York.
This issue was initiated by Albania, which chairs the Security Council this month. Members of the Security Council and representatives of the invited countries are expected to express statements about the causes of the war, including the role that propaganda and hate speech in Russia have played in unleashing it.
Special Advisor of the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide Alice Wairimu Nderitu will address the meeting. According to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, the head of the mission, Sergiy Kyslytsya, is also scheduled to speak at the meeting.
The event will take place at around 17:00 Kyiv time.
