“We initially stated that we need Western-style systems. When the President addressed the Norwegian parliament a few months ago that we definitely need their NASAMS — this is the complex that is available in modern combat conditions, and we are currently conducting such combat actions that we must deploy our air defenses from hidden positions, and to be mobile, that is, NASAMS is just such a complex we need,” he said.
According to the official, this system has high mobility, and can quickly deploy, shoot back and leave the position. NASAMS has 6 missiles, and the range of this complex reaches 40 kilometres.
“Actually, it will strengthen our echelon. That is, this complex, which is also autonomous will work effectively. Negotiations are going on seriously, on various levels, and the transfer of these weapons will be a huge step for us,” concluded Yuriy Ignat.
