Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Yevgen Yenin reported on August 14, 2022, that Russian troops attack the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine much more often than military facilities. The Russian army has hit more than twenty-two thousand civilian objects and about three hundred military ones since the beginning of the full-scale invasion on February 24.

“We see the numbers – more than 22,000 civilian objects affected and only about 300 – military objects. We see how cruise missiles fly directly over nuclear energy objects, we see enemy missiles hitting critical infrastructure objects, chemical production,” Yenin said.
For example, 8,966 civilian objects were completely or partially damaged in the Mykolaiv region by Russians.
According to Minister, the Russian troops are also attacking cultural heritage sites, including religious buildings, shopping centers, and schools. Yenin emphasized that anything can become the object of missile and bomb strikes by Russian troops.
There are also many cases when Russians use the civilian population of Ukraine as a human shield.
