The full embargo on Russian coal was postponed until mid-August because of Germany.
Germany once again demonstrates that its economic interests have more value than the lives of Ukrainians defending Europe from fascism. The European Union will postpone a full embargo on Russian coal until mid-August due to German pressure. The gradual cessation of Russian coal imports is the cornerstone of Europe’s fifth sanctions package.
If it is approved, it will be the first direct sanctions against Russian energy. However, oil and gas are still not on the sanctions agenda. The fifth package of restrictions was decided to adopt after the Bucha massacre.
