“We expect that there will be positive news about the next steps that must be taken to obtain Ukraine’s candidate status this week,” she said, adding that this is a questionnaire.
“It will be a non-standard document, smaller in volume. We are waiting for this document this week.”
Stefanishyna stressed that the government has been preparing draft responses to the expected questionnaire for the past two weeks, so now the government is ready to respond officially in a very short time. She is convinced that the European Commission will confirm the candidate status for Ukraine.
“We expect that the European Commission will complete internal procedures and confirm Ukraine’s compliance with the criteria for obtaining candidate status by the end of April. Then – a political decision to grant Ukraine candidate status,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
