The new package will include the following restrictions: a partial ban on the import of Russian gold and the freezing of Sberbankʼs assets.
“Member States have agreed to our reinforced, prolonged EU sanctions against the Kremlin. I welcome that. It sends a strong signal to Moscow: we will keep the pressure high for as long as it takes.”
In addition, another 50 individuals and legal entities were on the sanctions list. Among them: politicians, military leaders, oligarchs and propagandists, including the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and the head of “Rostec” Sergey Chemezov, as well as eight legal entities.
The sanctions package includes a commitment that the restrictions will not threaten food and energy security around the world.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the EU’s seventh package of sanctions against Russia is not enough.
