“Sweden is joining the “Leopard family” in support of Ukraine, through Swedish Leopard 2 tanks. Today’s military package also includes further air defense components. We will continue to help Ukraine win the war,” tweeted the Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson.
According to Reuters, Sweden will provide Ukraine with about 10 tanks.
The head of the government said that Sweden would include not only tanks but also air defense systems in the military package.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense of Sweden emphasized that such supplies are primarily a signal to Ukraine that Sweden continues its support by providing a new aid package.
“Ukraine needs air defense systems, it is absolutely important for Ukraine that Russia does not gain dominance in the air. This is an opportunity that we must ensure in the long term,” reported Pål Jonson.
