Slovak President Andrej Kiska on Thursday signed the law on his country’s ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.
Thus, Slovakia is one of the first EU member states that ratified the agreement. It only has to submit the instrument of ratification for storage to the General Secretariat of the Council of the European Union, and this process lasts a few days, Radio Liberty reported.
“The Slovak president also signed the documents ratifying EU association agreements with Moldova and Georgia. According to the office of the Slovak president, Andrej Kiska described this event as a ‘historic milestone that will help these countries begin important political and economic reforms in order to move closer to EU standards.’ He also noted that Slovakia will continue to provide assistance to Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova,” reads the statement.
