Several traders to be able to sell gas to Ukraine households in 2017 – Deputy Prime Minister

From the moment of a full-fledged launch of Mahistralni Gazoprovody Ukrainy [Main Pipelines of Ukraine] company, which divides the supply, production and sales of gas, in the third quarter of 2017, Naftogaz of Ukraine will lose its monopoly on gas supplies to the country`s households, Deputy Prime Minister Volodymyr Kistion has said in an interview with ”Liviy Bereh with Sonya Koshkina”.

”It is only Naftogaz of Ukraine that sells gas to households. Now there will be several trades on the market, who will be ready to sell gas directly to the population. And the price will be as the trader will offer. However, there are a few things we need to deal with until the end of the first quarter of 2017. For example, for the natural gas market to start operating, we need to monetize payments that are being carried out from the state budget in the form of compensation to consumers – subsidies, assistance, and so on,” said Kistion.

Besides, Kistion said that the Cabinet was hoping that the Law on the Electric Energy Market would be adopted as a whole in the first quarter of 2017, while the government was drafting legislation and regulations to launch this electric energy market.
