SBU eliminates scheme of withdrawing capital into offshore companies

Kyiv law enforcers have revealed the illegal scheme of withdrawing a considerable sum of money into offshore companies, according to the SBU Security Service of Ukraine.

”Perpetrators, using controlled dummy exporting companies, concluded export contracts with affiliated non-resident companies, without reporting transactions in their tax accounting documents. As a result, goods and materials were exported from Ukraine without receipt of foreign exchange earnings,” the SBU wrote on Facebook.

The illegal financial transactions conducted in 2016-2017, were estimated at more than UAH 800 million, the service said.

”During 14 searches of premises, offices and vehicles belonging to persons involved in the case, law enforcement officers seized laptops with software ”client-bank,” flash drives, mobile phones confirming involvement of their owners in the illegal activity, as well as notebooks with recorded transactions, and 50 stamps of fictitious business entities,” the report said.

In addition, it is noted that the law enforcers seized a stamp of one of the subdivisions of the State Fiscal Service and the original documents on the absence of liabilities on taxes, fees and other payments in the fictitious business entities certified by it.

In the case, the law enforcers initiated criminal proceedings under Part 5 Article 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or seizure by abusing official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The investigation is ongoing.
