According to the report of the Kyiv School of Economics project “Russia will pay”, Ukraine’s losses from the full-scale war reached more than 127 billion dollars. In particular, Russia caused losses of more than 31 million dollars to Ukraine during the summer of 2022.

“The total amount of direct documented damage to residential and non-residential real estate, and other infrastructure of Ukraine as of September 2022 amounted to more than 127 billion dollars (at replacement cost),” says the Kyiv School of Economics.
The largest share in the total amount of losses belongs to the housing fund – 39.7%, or $50.5 billion. Compared to the beginning of June 2022, this amount increased by $11.2 billion.
“According to the latest data, a total of 135,800 private and apartment buildings were damaged and destroyed by Russian troops. The total area of damaged or destroyed objects is 74.1 million square meters, which is 7.3% of the total area of the country’s housing stock,” it is noted in the report of the KSE.
The amount of losses in the infrastructure sphere is in second place – 27.7%, or $35.3 billion, of which $26.6 billion is due to the direct destruction of roads and $4.3 billion – railway losses. The damage caused to the railway infrastructure of Ukraine increased by $1.7 billion from June to August 2022.
Business asset losses amounted to at least $9.9 billion and counting. This is the third largest item of infrastructure damage. Metallurgy was the most affected in the terms of industries.
In total, at least 412 Ukrainian enterprises have been damaged or destroyed since the beginning of the war, 64 of which are large and medium-sized enterprises It is expected that this number may be higher, as there is currently no complete information on the state of Ukrainian enterprises located in temporarily occupied territories by Russia.
Compared to the beginning of June 2022, there was a significant increase in the number of destroyed and damaged infrastructure objects in Ukraine. The number of residential objects affected by Russia’s war increased from 121,000 to 136,000 objects, medical facilities – from 777 to 978, administrative buildings – from 111 to 616, and private cars – from 105,200 to 188,100.
