“Russians took property from the Kherson Art Museum named after Oleksiy Shovkunenko. The museum also has a branch in Nova Kakhovka. The museum’s permanent exhibition includes iconography of the seventeenth and early twentieth centuries, as well as Ukrainian art of the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Works by contemporary artists were also presented. In total, almost 15 thousand exhibits were stolen from the museum’s collection, as well as other cultural institutions of the Kherson region,” reported the National Resistance Center of Ukraine.
At the same time, Russian troops stole not only cultural property.
“Traditionally, Russians stole plumbing, including toilets, and household appliances,” added the National Resistance Center of Ukraine.
Russian soldiers brought the exhibits stolen from the Kherson Art Museum to the temporarily occupied Simferopol (Crimea).
