The Ukrainian An-26 transport plane was fired by Russian troops in the exclusive (maritime) economic zone of Ukraine in the Black Sea.
On February 1, 2017, the Ukrainian transport plane was attacked from the drilling rigs in the area of Odessa Gas field, the platforms of which were previously seized by Russian Federation, reports the Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Stepan Poltorak.
“Today, February 1, 2017, during a training flight over exclusive economic waters of Ukraine, in the area of Odessa Gas field, the platforms of which were previously seized by Russian Federation, an An-26 cargo plane of the Ukrainian Navy came under fire,” stated the Ukrainian Minister of Defense.
During the flight crew members of the Ukrainian An-26 transport plane detected an actively-operating radar system of the Russian armed forces which are usually used for anti-air missile guidance.
At the airport, the inspection of the Ukrainian An-26 transport plane showed three bullet holes in the plane’s hull caused by firing from small arms.
The crew members of the plane were not injured.
