“Due to the insidious actions of Russian soldiers to destroy the agricultural infrastructure, the farmers of the Kharkiv region suffered losses amounting to billions of hryvnias. 68 enterprises (out of more than 1,000) were destroyed by Russian shelling, and this is a very significant figure,” said the deputy head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.
According to Yevhen Ivanov, 340 units of various equipment were destroyed. The administration noted that the war also affected those enterprises that were outside the zone of hostilities or occupation: they were left without working capital.
Due to the circumstances caused by the war, farmers’ losses on the cultivation of various crops reach 200-250 dollars per hectare. In the spring and summer, hundreds of farmers had the question of whether to continue their activities.
“The Russian army not only purposefully hit farmers, which made work in the fields dangerous for life, but due to blocking of exports by Russian soldiers it was unprofitable to even harvest the already grown crops. And this means disruption of the production cycle, and loss of employees,” explained Yevhen Ivanov.
