“In two months of heavy fire, Russian troops destroyed every second high-rise building. There are 1,800 such high-rise buildings in the city of Mariupol. The terrorist state [Russia – ed.] has identified 934 buildings that are being demolished today. Russian soldiers have already removed 400 such buildings, that is, they have hidden their war crimes,” said the mayor of Mariupol.
According to Vadym Boichenko, Russian troops, fearing a Ukrainian counteroffensive, destroy traces of their crimes by demolishing the shot and bombed houses together with their numerous killed residents of Mariupol.
“Russian troops work day and night. Because they realize that we [the Ukrainian Armed Forces – ed.] are already approaching, that we will take back the city, that there will be a counteroffensive. And they are preparing for this and cleaning up their war crimes. 50% of the city, unfortunately, no longer exists, and Russian soldiers are quickly cleaning up [traces of war crimes – ed.],” added Vadym Boichenko.
In addition, 57,000 families, or almost 200,000 people were left homeless in destroyed by Russian military Mariupol.
