State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom” noted that the Iranian kamikaze drone flew very close to the nuclear facility of the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant during the Russian attack on Ukraine on December 19, 2022. The Shahed drone flew just over the site of the nuclear power plant.

“Tonight, on December 19, 2022, the flight of the kamikaze drone “Shahed” over the site of the South Ukraine NPP near the nuclear facility was recorded,” clarified the State Enterprise National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom”.
“Energoatom” noted that this was absolutely unacceptable because it violated nuclear and radiation safety.
That is why “Energoatom” appealed to the IAEA and the world nuclear community and told them about the fact of the flight of an attack drone over the site of the nuclear plant, as well as urged to prevent nuclear facilities from being at risk of attack by Russia and posing a threat to the nuclear and radiation safety of Ukraine and the world.
