Based on the data obtained by the State environmental inspectorate in the Luhansk region, since the beginning of hostilities, Russian troops have partially destroyed the forest fund of the Luhansk region on an area of more than 26,000 hectares. The total amount of damage is more than 180 billion hryvnias.

“As a result of the fires, the territory of the nature reserve fund was damaged. Namely: the National Nature Park Kreminski Lisy [forests – ed.], the hydrological reserve of local importance Kreminski Kaptazhi and part of the Luhansk Nature Reserve Tryochizbensky Steppe,” reported the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

Infrastructure, industry and life support facilities were damaged in the Luhansk region due to the use by Russian military of heavy weapons and phosphorus munitions prohibited by the Geneva Convention, as well as multiple rocket launchers TOS-1 Buratino. As a result, land plots were littered with the remains of ammunition, equipment and structures, as well as due to fires, there was an emission of pollutants into the atmospheric air.
