The Russian troops provide terrorists with fire support using Grad multiple rocket launchers as they counterattack Ukrainian army positions on the strategic height Savur-Mohyla, spokesman for the information and analytical center of the National Security and Defence Council Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
“According to the State Border Guard Service, the fire support for terrorists near Savur-Mohyla came from Russian soldiers near the village of Novoaleksandrovskoe,” the spokesman said.
According to him, the multiple rocket launchers, firing at the positions of the Ukrainian troops, were located almost on the border (200-300 m from the state border – ed.).
However, despite all the efforts of terrorists and the Russian military, our soldiers successfully repulsed all counterattacks. As a result, more than 100 fighters have been killed, 10 armored vehicles and 12 artillery systems destroyed.
On Monday, Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Viktor Muzhenko, reported to President Petro Poroshenko that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have taken control of Savur-Mohyla in Donetsk region.
Savur-Mohyla is a strategic height on the border of Luhansk, Donetsk regions and the Rostov region of Russia, from which terrorists fired on Ukrainian military and a number of settlements, including Marynivka.
