The German government has called on Russia to pull back its troops from the border with Ukraine.
German government deputy spokeswoman Christiane Wirtz said this in Berlin on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent in Germany reported.
“We call on Russia to contribute to de-escalation and withdraw its additional troops from the border [with Ukraine],” Wirtz said.
She also stressed the need to continue the “political dialogue” to find a solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine, in particular, as part of the international contact group.
While commenting on Russia’s proposal to send an international UN humanitarian mission to east Ukraine, Wirtz noted that “there are currently no legal grounds” for this.
