The Institute of mass information informed on February 24, 2023, that Russian troops have committed 497 crimes against journalists and media in Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022.

“As of February 24, 2023, 48 media workers have been killed in Ukraine as a result of Russian armed aggression. 8 of them were killed while carrying out journalistic activities, 27 were killed as combatants, and 13 were killed as a result of Russian shelling or torture,” reported the Institute of mass information.
The Institute of mass information recorded 35 cases of Russian shelling of journalists. At least 17 journalists were injured while performing their professional activities. In particular, as a result of Russian shelling, journalists suffered contusions, fractures and injuries of limbs and shrapnel wounds.
Also, 21 cases of capture and kidnapping of journalists by Russian soldiers were recorded. Journalists were abducted and captured in five regions: Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Luhansk, and Kharkiv.
“Russians committed the most abductions of journalists (9) in the Kherson region (south of Ukraine),” added the Institute of mass information.
