Russia caused $144B in damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure

The Kyiv School of Economics informed on March 22, 2023, that the total amount of damage caused to the infrastructure of Ukraine as a result of the full-scale invasion of Russia is 143.8 billion dollars.

“As of February 2023, the total amount of damage caused to the infrastructure of Ukraine due to the full-scale invasion of Russia has increased by another $6 billion and is $143.8 billion (at replacement cost),” reported the Kyiv School of Economics.

According to researchers, over 150,000 residential buildings were damaged or destroyed during the year of the war. The amount of damages from the destruction of the housing stock reached $53.6 billion.

In second place is the sphere of infrastructure. According to the results of a year of full-scale war, losses in this area are estimated at $36.2 billion. During this time, more than 25,000 km of state and local roads and 344 bridges and overpasses were destroyed or damaged.

According to calculations, by the end of the winter of 2023, the amount of losses caused by trade has increased to $2.6 billion.

“$100 million worth of infrastructure damage was caused to the medical industry, so the total direct losses in this area are estimated at $1.8 billion,” added the Kyiv School of Economics.
