“The statement, read in plenary by the deputy from the group of national minorities Nicolae Miroslav Petreţchi, recognizes the Holodomor as a crime committed against the Ukrainian people and humanity and strongly condemns this act directed against the Ukrainian people, resulting in millions of victims, marked by massive violations of the most basic civil rights and liberties, as well as immense suffering,” noted the Parliament of Romania.

This document is a statement of solidarity with the Ukrainian people, paying tribute the millions of victims of artificial famine 1932-1933.

“The Holodomor represented a unique assassination on the territory of the Soviet Union, in terms of the size, pace and nature of the crimes committed by the leaders and institutions of the Soviet Union. In the early 1930s, the courage and tenacity of Ukrainians to oppose collectivization triggered the unleashed hatred of the totalitarian system,” said the Parliament of Romania.
