“Together with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we spoke at the Spring Meetings 2022, held by the World Bank and the IMF. We told our partners about Russia’s plans to destroy Ukraine and the Ukrainian economy. Blocked ports, strikes on factories, attempts to disrupt sowing, destroyed cities. It’s all part of the plan. Losses for the Ukrainian economy already amount to more than $ 500 billion. GDP may fall from 30 to 50% this year. Ukraine needs the financial support of its partners to survive. We estimate the amount of such short-term assistance at $ 4-5 billion per month for the next six months.
In the long run, the reconstruction and rebuilding of Ukraine will cost at least $ 600 billion. On behalf of the President of Ukraine, the Government, together with world experts, we are already developing such a recovery plan. I call on the whole world to support Ukraine, to support freedom and democracy.”
