Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko have shaken hands before the start of negotiations in the EU-Ukraine-Eurasian Troika format, RIA Novosti has reported.
“Putin and Poroshenko shook hands during a photo ceremony, which was held at the Independence Palace in Minsk ahead of the summit,” reads the statement.
The Ukrainian and Russian leaders personally talked again. Their first meeting took place over two months ago – on June 6 in France as part of celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Normandy landings.
As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday, August 26, Minsk is hosting a high-level meeting in the EU-Ukraine-Customs Union format.
