The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to grant consent to the dismissal by President Petro Poroshenko of Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin (Resolution No.4122).
The move was supported by 289 Members of Parliament, according to an UaPosition correspondent.
Introducing the draft resolution, the representative of the president in parliament Stepan Kubiv recalled that the President submitted the draft to parliament on February 22.
”Shokin filed a resignation letter,” he added.
As UaPosition reported earlier, on February 16, Petro Poroshenko suggested Shokin to resign. Later, he introduced to the Verkhovna Rada a draft resolution on granting consent to the dismissal of Shokin.
Viktor Shokin was appointed Prosecutor General February 10, 2015.
