President Petro Poroshenko discussed on the phone with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi issues of international humanitarian mission to Luhansk, the president’s press office reported on Tuesday.
The Ukrainian president thanked Matteo Renzi for support of Ukraine by the European Council, currently presided by Italy, as well as for the decision of the G7 of July 30.
Poroshenko and Renzi discussed Italy’s participation in the international humanitarian mission to Luhansk. Renzi said that Italy is a friend of Ukraine, and that he, as Prime Minister of the country holding the presidency of the EU, is ready to contribute to strengthening an international political dialogue and economic cooperation with Ukraine.
The Italian premier said that today there is unity in the transatlantic space to support Ukraine.
The sides also discussed investment and donors’ conference for Ukraine to be held in Kyiv in the autumn, and the possible participation of Italy.
Poroshenko renewed the invitation to Matteo Renzi to pay an official visit to Ukraine.
