The Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office noted on March 2, 2023, that in the Kherson region, law enforcement officers exhumed the bodies of two men who were tortured to death by Russian troops.

“According to the investigation, the killed were residents of the Kherson region. During the temporary occupation of the city of Kherson, the Russian military servicemen illegally detained the men with a difference of almost a month. They were placed in a temporary detention center, which Russian soldiers had set up for imprisoning and torturing citizens,” informed the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The law enforcement officers established the burial place of the murdered men and exhumed their bodies. A superficial examination of the corpses revealed signs of numerous injuries, including broken ribs.
“Currently, the men’s corpses have been sent for a forensic medical examination. The investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder, is ongoing,” added the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the police of the Kherson region, one of the men, was a 42-year-old member of the territorial defense of Kherson, while another – a 53-year-old former member of the anti-terrorist operation.
