Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has said that the presidents of Russia and Ukraine have not agreed on a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Peskov told RIA Novosti that the sides, however, had discussed how to resolve the conflict.
“Putin and Poroshenko really discussed the steps that would help cease fire between militias and Ukrainian security forces. Russia cannot physically agree on a ceasefire, because it is not a party to the conflict,” he said.
He declined to comment on the possibility of new contacts between the heads of state of the two countries.
