The president recalled that ordinary Ukrainians “waved their hands in the middle of the streets to stop tanks,” as it was in Kherson, which is now occupied by Russian troops.
“People came out and stopped the tanks with their hands. They decided to do it of their own free will. I couldn’t afford to say “don’t do this” and I couldn’t say ‘throw yourself under the “caterpillars’ tracks”. I’ll stay with these people until the end,” Zelensky stressed.
