The area of the territory in different regions of Ukraine that needs to be cleared of explosive objects is 185,000 square kilometers.
“At this time, thanks to major measures to investigate the nature of hostilities, in-depth analysis, we managed to reduce the potentially dangerous territory from 300,000 square kilometers to 185,000.”
A significant problem is also the pollution of rivers and reservoirs, in particular the coastal water areas of the Azov and Black seas by landmines and explosive objects. Approximately 19,000 square kilometers of water areas in Ukraine can be contaminated by explosive objects.
The Head of the Pyrotechnic Works and Humanitarian Demining Department informed that since the beginning of the full-scale war, a territory with an area of almost 70,000 hectares has been surveyed and more than 192,000 explosive objects, including more than 2,100 aerial bombs, have been discovered.
Representatives of the agricultural sector constantly turn to the State Emergency Service and regional military administrations with a request to conduct an inspection of agricultural land for the presence of ammunition.
“Understanding the importance of this issue, the State Emergency Service is making every effort to ensure that farmers carry out the planned measures on time. So far, our pyrotechnicians have already surveyed 48,630 hectares of agricultural land in the de-occupied territories of Ukraine. Demining continues and is under the constant control of the State Emergency Service.”
