Ukraine`s fugitive legislator Oleksandr Onyshchenko has said he will testify to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau via a video conference on December 22, according to an UNIAN correspondent.
”They [NABU] have agreed on my Skype conference [interrogation] tomorrow,” Onyshchenko told reporters at a Skype press conference.
At the same time, he noted that during questioning, he intended to provide ”evidence” of the involvement of the Ukrainian president in corruption activities.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on July 5, the Verkhovna Rada agreed to allow criminal prosecution, detention and arrest of Onyshchenko. Ahead of this move, having taken advantage of his parliamentary immunity, he left Ukraine.
The Ukrainska Pravda online newspaper published a statement by Onyshchenko claiming he had allegedly handed some ”incriminating evidence” regarding Poroshenko to the U.S. intelligence agencies. The statement followed the announcement by the Ukrainian Security Service that Onyshchenko was plotting a ”massive information attack on Ukraine within the framework of a strategy agreed with the Kremlin”.
On December 8, NABU Director Artem Sytnik said that the agency had registered criminal proceedings at the request of People`s Deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko into the facts of bribery of deputies.
On December 17, Chief Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Kholodnytskiy said that the NABU would close the proceedings if Onyshchenko failed to provide relevant evidence within 10 days.
