Only 7% of Ukrainians refugees do not plan to return from abroad – survey

According to the Razumkov Center survey from July 20 to August 25, 2022, the vast majority of Ukrainians temporarily resettled abroad due to the war, plan to return to Ukraine, and only 7% of respondents do not plan to return.

“Answering their intention to return to Ukraine, 36% of respondents express their intention to return after making sure that it is safe to stay in the area where they lived, 35% – will return home immediately after the war ends, 13% – after a year or a few years after the end of the war, 7% – after the company they worked resumes work or they are sure that they will find another job at home, 11% plan to return in the near future, and 7% do not plan to return to Ukraine at all (among those who have a permanent job in the host country, such 18%)”.

It should be noted that residents of the west (18%) and central Ukraine (15%) regions are more likely to plan to return home soon, while among refugees from the east and south of Ukraine – only 6%.

88% of those who plan to return to Ukraine answered that after returning they plan to settle in the same region where they lived before the war and 7% – that they plan to settle in another region (mostly residents of the Eastern region).

511 Ukrainian refugees in 30 countries were interviewed.
