At this stage, the main task of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces is to cut terrorist groups off supply routes and the mission is being successfully performed, Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) Information and Analysis Center spokesman Andriy Lysenko told reporters in Kyiv on Thursday.
“The offensive action by the Armed Forces and formations as part of the ATO is progressing according to plan. The main purpose is to cut off the main cluster of terrorists, their base camps and supply routes, and the Ukrainian military are performing the operation well,” Lysenko said.
He said the militants understand their doom because they put up resistance. “We face a fire confrontation from terrorists and understand that they too have significant capabilities that they had earlier received from Russia,” the spokesman said.
