“The Netherlands is to contribute €100 million to the newly created International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) to finance military materiel for Ukraine. Besides the Netherlands, the other fund participants are its initiator the United Kingdom, Denmark and Norway,” noted the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the first contracts for the supply of weapons will be concluded by the end of 2022.
“The first deliveries are expected in the first half of next year. The fund enables participating countries to continue providing Ukraine with military support over the longer term. It offers participants an additional method of lending support without compromising their own readiness and deployability,” concluded the Dutch Ministry of Defense.
According to Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, Oslo will donate about NOK 1.5 billion (about €150 million) to the fund, in addition to the NOK 400 million (€39.6 million) that Norway previously donated to the fund.
“That funding was used to acquire drones, drone jamming equipment and artillery shells,” says Norwegian Minister of defense Bjorn Arild Gram.
The NOK 1.5 billion contribution is part of the NOK 3 billion that the Norwegian government will allocate for military support to Ukraine in 2022.
“This fund provides equipment acquired directly from the defense industry. Norway has a world leading defense industry within certain areas, and produces systems that can supply Ukraine’s requirements. I am pleased that the Norwegian industry will be able to compete for contracts through this fund,” added Bjorn Arild Gram.
