“When she formally becomes the Prime Minister, I think there will be a call immediately, and arrangements for Liz Truss’ visit will not be delayed. As a diplomatic system, we have already started preparing for this conversation and Liz Truss’s arrival in Kyiv.”
The Ambassador noted that British society is unanimous in the position that Russia must lose this war. In addition, he believes that Truss’s statement about the readiness to use nuclear weapons in case of need has already become a warning for Russia.
“I’m sure it’s the right statement, although a rather risky one. It is not something that many peacekeepers around the world want to hear, but she’s ticked all the boxes. Russia got the powerful signal it needed to get. Liz Truss excellent understands, and our Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba appealed to her with a reminder that Britain is one of those countries that promised to protect Ukraine when we got rid of nuclear weapons.”
Uaposition memo: British Foreign Minister Liz Truss was elected as the new leader of the ruling Conservative Party on September 5, 2022. She has repeatedly stated that she would support Ukraine in resisting Russian aggression.
