The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will do everything possible to stabilize the exchange rate at a balanced level of UAH 11.5-11.9 per U.S. dollar.
NBU Governor Valeriya Hontareva said this in her report in the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“It’s clear to everyone that there are no economic factors for the exchange rate of UAH 13-13.5 per dollar. It’s just panic. Everyone understands that the exchange rate is far from its sustainable level. Even given the fighting [taking place in eastern Ukraine], a balanced exchange rate currently stays at UAH 11.5-11.9 per dollar. NBU is not going to keep it away from the market and will do everything possible to stabilize the exchange rate to its balanced level,” she said.
