The National Bank of Ukraine obliged national financial institutions to stop carrying out all types of financial operations in settlements, which are temporarily controlled by terrorists.
The regulator’s statement reads of August 6, the regulator’s press service told Ukrinform.
“To stop carrying out all types of financial operations by banks of Ukraine at settlements, not controlled by the Ukrainian authority,” the document says.
At the same time, the NBU recommends to banks, until complete resumption of activities, to render services to clients with the help of mobile devices.
The central bank explains this decision by “the need to avoid the threat of life and health of clients and bank workers and financial institutions on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.”
In addition, the National Bank obliged Ukrposhta and non-banking institutions to suspend financial operations on the territories controlled by militants, in particular, the reception and issue of money transfers.
The NBU general department for regulation of money circulation is instructed to inform the banks about the districts and regional cities of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, which are not controlled by the Ukrainian authority.
