The anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces carry out a successful attack forcing terrorists to look for ways how to save their lives, Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko told reporters on Monday.
“Many of them are already phoning and offering their terms: for the preservation of their lives, they agree to provide information about the location of the militants, military equipment, and other,” Lysenko said.
He called on the terrorists, who have information that could mitigate their sentence, to actively cooperate with investigators. “Anyone who was involved in some crimes, but met half-way and has information that will mitigate the guilt, we will certainly take into this account,” he said.
According to Lysenko, Ukrainian law enforcers guarantee terrorists, who will surrender in captivity, life and a fair trial. “People will live. They will be given an opportunity to stand trial, but for them it will be extenuating conditions, because it is still much better than just die on this land,” the NSDC spokesman said.
