Lithuania has frozen more than €85M of Russian and Belarusian assets

Lithuania has frozen Russian and Belarusian assets with a total value of more than 85 million euros in compliance with the European Commission’s sanctions imposed in connection with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania noted this on December 28, 2022.

“The Financial Crimes Investigation Service ensures the implementation of international sanctions. in 2022 December 20 according to data, the total amount of incoming frozen funds of 9 legal entities from Russia amounts to 77,883 million. EUR, 6 legal entities and 1 natural person from Belarus – EUR 9,457 million. US dollars,” wrote the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Lithuania.

In addition, the Financial Crimes Investigation Service of Lithuania is engaged in the prevention and investigation of crimes in the financial sphere, in particular, money laundering, illegal use of EU funds, “tax entanglements”, and fraud using digital assets.

“FNTT must respond appropriately to the challenges dictated by the times and modernizing financial crimes. The new management demonstrates leadership – ambitious goals have been set and necessary measures have been planned to ensure the security of the state’s financial system”, says Minister of Internal Affairs of Lithuania Agnė Bilotaitė.
