Latvia will hand over medical equipment worth almost €378,000 to Ukraine

The Minister of Health of Latvia, Līga Meņģelsone, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine Oleksandr Mishchenko on February 8, 2023, reported on the progress of preparation of the next batch of equipment, which will be sent to support Ukraine –185 units of medical equipment worth almost 378,000 euros.

“Minister of Health Līga Menģelsone confirmed Latvia’s support for Ukraine and informed about the progress of the preparation of the next shipment of medical equipment. It will provide Ukraine with infusion pumps, lung ventilators, patient monitors – a total of 185 units in the amount of almost 378 thousand euros. The shipment will be delivered to Ukraine using the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union,” informed the Ministry of Health of Latvia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Latvia Oleksandr Mishchenko thanked the Ministry of Health of Latvia for the support, treatment and rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military.

Līga Meņģelsone and Oleksandr Mishchenko also talked about Latvia’s future support in the field of humanitarian aid, treatment and rehabilitation of injured Ukrainian soldiers due to the war in Latvian medical institutions.

“It has already been reported that last year Latvia helped with medical devices, medicines, ambulances, stretchers, microscopes, dressing materials, foil blankets, as well as provided treatment and psychosocial support to the population of Ukraine in the amount of more than 2 million euros,” added the Ministry of Health of Latvia.
