The state-owned ”Iskatel” (Searcher) research vessel has discovered offshore deposits of natural gas in Odesa region, according to the press service of the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources of Ukraine.
The vessel has completed the first phase of its offshore operations in the northwest part of the Black Sea shelf, the press service said.
”Scientists estimate that gas stocks [there] make up at least 40 billion cubic meters of gas on an area of 7,000 square meters. These are the minimum amounts we can predict,” head of the agency Mykola Boyarkin said.
Earlier, Ukraine`s the State Service of Geology and Mineral Resources in 2015 boosted geological exploration while searching for mineral deposits.
