Romania was the first country who recognized Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. Later, the same decisions were approved in Ireland and Moldova.
“A truly historic decision by the Seanad Éireann to recognize Holodomor of 1932-33 in Ukraine as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. Ireland is among our closest friends that is not afraid to call a spade a spade,” noted the Ukrainian Embassy in Ireland.
In Moldova, 54 deputies voted for the document regarding the recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people, there was not a single vote against it.
The President of Ukraine welcomed such decisions of three countries.
“I praise Romania’s, Ireland’s, and Moldova’s decision on honoring the Holodomor 1932-1933 victims’ memory! Your recognition of the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainian people & a crime against humanity is more important than ever today. Together we restore historical justice & gain the free future of Europe!” Noted Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
