Director General of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) Rafael Grossi wrote on Twitter on January 16, 2023, that representatives of the IAEA arrived at the South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant to implement a monitoring mission. Foreign experts on nuclear safety will be at the plant until the end of hostilities in Ukraine.

“IAEA flag is now flying at Ukraine’s Pivdennoukrainsk (South Ukraine Nuclear Power Plant). We are here to stay to help ensure nuclear safety & security during ongoing conflict. Soon IAEA will be permanently present at all Ukrainina NPPs,” tweeted Rafael Grossi.
Two nuclear safety experts will be at the South Ukraine NPP as part of the mission. They will monitor the situation at the plant, provide technical support and advice to Ukrainian colleagues, and also record all off-site situations at the facility and report their findings to the IAEA headquarters.
In total, the IAEA will have about 11-12 experts permanently present in Ukraine.
