IAEA missions will improve monitoring and staff work at Ukraine’s nuclear power plants

The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Director General of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency), Rafael Grossi, coordinated actions to guarantee safety at all nuclear facilities in Ukraine during a meeting in Kyiv on January 18, 2023.

Denys Shmyhal said that on January 18, 2023, the IAEA completed the placement of permanent missions at the Ukrainian nuclear power plants: Rivne, Chernobyl, and South Ukraine NPPs. According to him, the mission at the Khmelnytskyi NPP should start its work in the coming days.

“Together with Director General Rafel Grossi, we coordinated our actions to guarantee safety at all nuclear facilities in Ukraine. Assistance and technical support missions will ensure technological safety at stations, in particular at the Zaporizhia NPP,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine informed.

According to Rafael Grossi, IAEA missions at the nuclear power plants of Ukraine will consist of the best international experts and will improve the transportation of equipment, monitoring of the situation and the work of personnel.
