“More self-propelled howitzers have been delivered, now 24 pieces. In addition, Ukraine would be provided with six to seven Gepard anti-aircraft tanks,” said the chairwoman of the Defense Committee in the Bundestag.
The representative of the Bundestag noted that she personally advocated sending modern Leopard and Marder tanks to Ukraine, but the government still does not support this initiative. According to Strack-Zimmermann, providing them to Ukraine now is simply necessary and “there is no longer any reason not to do it.”
Ukraine sent requests for German tanks from the first months of the war, but the German government refused to comply with Kyiv’s request.
