The German government calls on the Russian authorities to refrain from taking steps that could lead to a further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.
Deputy spokeswoman for the German Foreign Ministry Sawsan Chebli said on Wednesday in Berlin, according to Ukrinform’s correspondent in Germany.
“We demand the greatest possible transparency and call on Russia to refrain from any steps that could lead to a further escalation,” the diplomat said.
According to her, such steps that contribute to escalation can be military exercises that Russia is now conducting, and the increased concentration of Russian troops on the border with Ukraine.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that he had received information proving that in recent days the threat of Russia’s direct military intervention in Ukraine has increased significantly.
