On January 22, 2023, it became known that the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the G7 countries will hold a meeting in Munich as a sign of unity against Russian aggression in Ukraine on the eve of the anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“The first gathering of the G7 top diplomats in 2023 is expected to take place on the sidelines of the annual Munich Security Conference to be held from Feb. 17 to 19 in the southern German city”, say the diplomatic sources.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will chair the meeting, as Japan has assumed the leadership role in the G7 this year.
The Foreign Ministers will confirm their solidarity regarding the pressure on Russia to stop aggression and support Ukraine at the planned meeting.
The heads of foreign affairs of Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States, as well as the European Union, are also expected to confirm the importance of maintaining the international order according to the rule of law.
