The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron on January 4, 2023. The French President promised to provide Ukraine with Bastion armored personnel carriers and AMX-10 RC wheeled tanks.

“I had a long and detailed conversation with French President Emmanuel Macron about the current situation. I thanked him for the decision to transfer light tanks [AMX-10 RC wheeled tanks – ed.] and Bastion [armored personnel carriers – ed.] to Ukraine, as well as for intensifying work with partners in the same direction. We agreed on further cooperation on significantly strengthening Ukrainian air defense and other defense capabilities. We also agreed to work on the implementation of the peace formula,” explained the President of Ukraine.
According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, France is taking the defense support of Ukraine to a new level, which will help restore security for Ukrainians and peace for Europeans.
“Each of our partners will have very specific information about the needs of Ukrainian defense. And we all have the same goal: to put an end to Russian aggression as soon as possible, to restore a reliable and long-lasting peace as soon as possible,” emphasized the President of Ukraine.
