European officials are hoping for an extension of sanctions against the Russian Federation for another six months, according to an RFE/RL correspondent in Brussels Rikard Jozwiak.
The EU diplomats are hoping that the European Council will extend the economic sanctions earlier imposed against Russia for another six months, according to Jozwiak`s tweet.
He pointed out that diplomats are hoping to extend the sanctions without further discussion.
”EU diplomats hopeful that decision to extend eco[nomic] sanctions against Russia by 6 months will be agreed without discussions at EUCO,” he tweeted.
Earlier, the anti-Russian sanctions would most likely be prolonged for another six months, according to EC President Donald Tusk.
According to Mr Tusk, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Sweden and partly the UK express a pro-Ukrainian position in this issue.
